The Power Commander is a fully
adjustable device, but don't confuse it (or any other
fuel-adjustment device) with a magic wand. It is not self-learning
and will not self-edjust to make your bike run perfectly. The
Dynojet maps available for download are a great step in the right
direction and are often close enough to satisfy riders. But if you
are not quite satisfied with your bike's performance, there are some
additional measures to help you reach performance
nirvana.

Commander |

This item alters
the performance and characteristics of your engine and is intended
for race use on closed tracks only. (EX Models are CARB
Approved for Street use)
The Dynojet Power Commander III USB allows
fine-tuning of your fuel-injected motorcycle when changing air
cleaner, pipes, cams, or making other performance adjustments. These
adjustments can be made at throttle positions from idle to 100% and
at engine speed (RPM) increments of 250. What this translates into
is several hundred individual fuel cells which can be adjusted to
richer or leaner conditions.
Here at TNT Performance Dyno we
specialize in fuel-injection mapping. If you want the best
performance from your bike, then call us at 1-877-271-3966 and schedule your
appointment for a custom map. With our secret weapon (aka
"Konrad") and exhaust analyzer we can precisely adjust your
bike to achieve the ideal air / fuel ratio, resulting in
optimum performance. Just this week riders have traveled to TNT from
Louisiana and Michigan because they recognized the role of proper
mapping when pulling it all together.
If your modifications are in progress or a trip to
Nashville isn't on your list, we'll ship you a Power Commander
pre-loaded with a map developed by Dynojet Research. If Dynojet offers a map which
matches or closely matches your bike and its unique modifications,
we will download that map into your Power
Commander (no charge!) If a map matching your
modifications has not yet been made by Dynojet, then your Power
Commander will come with a map designed to improve
performance over stock. We always recommend a test with a
reputable Power Commander Tuning Center to ensure proper air/fuel
ratio.
Each Power
Commander Kit includes the fuel adjustment module (fuel &
ignition modules are included on many H-D models), software and USB
cables for downloading maps, and a 9 volt power
adapter. Dynojet is continuously mapping different combinations
for each bike.
If you do not
have a computer, you can change the settings with three touch
buttons on the faceplate. We at TNT Performance Dyno generally
discourage our customers from making adjustments with these buttons
as there is no way to know the effect of the adjustments without
running a dyno test. We recommend custom adjustments be made at
authorized Power Commander Tuning Centers, such as TNT Performance
Dyno.

modifications are required; OEM style connectors are

Throttle Position Sensor
Adjustments
Because there are variances
in throttle position sensor (TPS) installations from the motorcycle
factories, you may need to adjust the Power Commander's TPS values
to match your individual motorcycle's settings. This way, when your
bike's throttle is at idle, the Power Commander will recognize it as
0% throttle position. If this adjustment is needed but not made,
your bike may be at idle but the Power Commander may read it as open
or closed to a different degree (for example 5%) and send the fuel
adjustment intended for a 5% open throttle to the ECM when your bike
is actually at idle
How do you know if
you need to adjust TPS values on your Power Commander? One indicator
is the row of green lights on the front of your Power Commander.
When the Power Commander is powered up on your bike and the bike is
at idle, or when it is powered up on your computer with the 9v
adapter, only the bottom green light should shine, as this
indicates the lowest fuel/air ratio. If two or more lights
shine when no additional fuel is added, this
indicates that the Power Commander is mis-reading the TPS
values.
Dynojet includes a very user friendly
tutorial for adjusting the TPS values in the Control Center Software
which accompanies every Power Commander. You may also access this
tutorial by clicking on the link below

Oxygen Sensor
Eliminator
Closed loop circuits
have limited operating ranges in effect only when maintaining a
constant speed at specific throttle positions and rpm's.
In this operating area, a stock closed loop system will
temporarily lean the exhaust ratio with the goal of
bringing the air/fuel ratio to 14.7:1 (stochiometric). You can
disconnect the O2 sensors but with the effect of tripping the
F.I. warning light on the dash. The O2 Sensor
Eliminator disables closed loop systems on models equipped with
O2 sensors (For racing use only). |
